“I have a distinct memory from my childhood. I am young, probably less than ten years of age and I am wood-working with my father learning to shape, sand and finally varnish a piece of wood, I think it was a simple door stop. The memory is of how the wood grain changed and came to life through this process, particularly with the first application of varnish. I think this experience shapes my love of this medium."
